Social media is full of surprising stories, and a recent anecdote shared by a Reddit user has captured the attention of thousands. Identified as ‘@crismsonkitsune333’, the young man revealed a shocking inheritance that his grandfather had been accumulating for seven decades: a huge piggy bank full of coins.

The story began with a photograph of a glass jar full of coins that his grandfather had meticulously stored. “My grandfather kept his change in this glass jar for 70 years and he’s finally letting me count it.”wrote. What seemed to be a simple family savings became a surprising story that quickly went viral.

Netizens carefully followed every update about the contents of the piggy bank, which turned out to be full of silver, gold and copper coins, significantly increasing its value. When he took out the jug and placed its contents in a box, the young man was surprised to discover that it weighed no less than 70 kilos.
However, the story did not end there. In an unexpected twist, ‘@crismsonkitsune333’ revealed that thieves tried to steal the inheritance.

Fortunately, thanks to the quick intervention of the police, the young man was able to preserve his grandfather’s legacy. “It was covered in fingerprint dust when the police came, as it was too heavy to run away with,” he explained.

After a week of counting and sorting the coins, the young man finally revealed the result: The jug accumulated a total of US$2,052.76. In his post, he showed images of all the coins and some bills he had found.
The find also included coins with significant historical value. The oldest was a wheat penny from 1928, while the newest was from 2023. Additionally, he found 77 wheat pennies from 1928 to 1958, along with several silver coins from 1951 and the 1960s, including a 1942 mercury dime.
