In addition to the locals, the cyclists expected this year at the Grand Prix Cycliste des Mutuelles de France come from Montpellier, Hyères, Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, La Ciotat, Antibes, Chambéry, Lyon, Grenoble, Annecy and even Perpignan.
This new meeting carried by the Sisteronaise Golden Wheel reinforces the interest of the territory for cycling, which thus highlights the region with three stages: from Sisteron to Curbans (90 km), from Laragne to Lagrand (54 km) and from Ribiers to Le Poët (93 km).
The start will be from Val Durance on Saturday at 10 a.m., for a first event which will take the athletes to Curbans. They will take the road back to the Laragne campsite at 4:45 p.m. to arrive in Lagrand around 6 p.m.
On Sunday morning, cyclists will leave Ribiers at 9:30 a.m. for an estimated arrival at Le Poët around 12:15 p.m.
This competition in three stages, amateur and in stages, renowned for its flawless organization, is supported by around sixty volunteers and the community of communes of Sisteronais-Buëch (CCSB). “She is the only one of this type in the region. It allows to mix the high level and the amateurs”, specified during the presentation in the premises of the CCSB Christophe Umbert, the president of the organization and secretary of the club.
As for the Tour de France, the yellow, white, polka dot and green jerseys will be given, respectively, to the leader of the event, to the best young rider, for the mountain event and for the sprint. Suffice to say that head in the handlebars and hands on the casseroles will be part of the program, with pieces of anthology, such as the turnstiles of Bayon, the passes of Faye or that of L’Épine.
