Grand Coalition’s Scenario for Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates Revealed

Head of Bappilu, President of the Golkar Party, Nusron Wahid conveyed the scenario for the presidential and vice presidential candidates from the Grand Coalition, with the presidential candidates coming from KKIR and the cawapres from KIB. Secretary General Gerindra Ahmad Muzani said that currently his party has only formed a coalition with PKB.

“In that matter, I have said many times that the current one has stated that they will definitely support Pak Prabowo, yes PKB. That was clearly stated in a declaration on August 13, 2022,” Muzani said after attending the Tegal Family Association event in Jakarta, Saturday (27/5/2023).

Muzani said PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin had the most chance of becoming Prabowo’s running mate. This is because it was stated in the agreement between PKB and Gerindra.

“So from this point of view, yes, Pak Muhaimin is the most likely to become Pak Prabowo’s vice-presidential candidate. Because it was stated in the agreement that, for presidential and vice-presidential matters, both Pak Prabowo and Pak Muhaimin agreed,” he said.

He said no other party had declared support for Prabowo as formally as PKB.

“So until now there has been no other party that has stated it unequivocally, clearly, or said it in a stamped deed,” he said.

Previously, Nusron spoke about the meeting between Golkar chairman Airlangga Hartato and Cak Imin some time ago. Nusron saw that the meeting was in order to equalize the core coalition between Golkar and PKB towards a grand coalition.

“Pak Airlangga and Cak Imin’s meeting is still in the framework of equalizing the frequency and follow-up of the core coalition between Golkar and PKB in moving towards a grand coalition, namely the integration of the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR) and the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB),” said Nusron when contacted, Friday (26/5).

Nusron then presented scenarios for the presidential and vice presidential candidates from the Grand Coalition. He said the presidential candidates would come from KKIR, while the cawapres would be from KIB. He considered that Airlangga was suitable to accompany Prabowo Subianto.

“Golkar’s stance is still adamant. Because this is a combination of two coalitions to form a grand coalition, it is ideal if the President is from KKIR and the Vice President is from KIB. Our hope is President Prabowo and his Vice President Airlangga Hartarto,” said Nusron.
