NEW YORK – Police are on the trail of a group of suspects they believe are connected to a series of violent robberies at Grand Central.
At around 1:50 am on Nov. 8, a 28-year-old man was walking toward the station entrance, according to New York City police. Vanderbilt Ave yes East 42nd Street when a group of four men approached him from behind and started assaulting him, repeatedly hitting and kicking him.
During the attack, the group attempted unsuccessfully to steal the man’s backpack before fleeing. The man suffered lacerations to his face and was treated at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.
On November 11, three days after the first incident, at around 4:25 a.m., a 28-year-old man stood at the corner of Vanderbilt Ave yes East 42nd Street when a group of five men surrounded him and demanded money, according to the uniform. In this incident, the group allegedly managed to steal his iPhone 13 from his trouser pockets and punched him in the face before fleeing. The man suffered a minor facial injury, but refused to receive medical treatment at the scene.
Police describe the individuals as four or five men perhaps in their 20s, with a slim build, last seen wearing hooded jackets and face masks.
