Granada is the second city most dissatisfied with its public services

Water supply and garbage collection are the best rated municipal public services in Granada according to the study carried out by the Observatory of Urban Services (OSUR) through a survey carried out by Ipsos. The sample includes residents in the 30 most populous cities in the country (Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga, Alcalá de Henares, Alicante, Badalona, Bilbao, Cartagena, Córdoba, La Coruña, Elche, Gijón, Granada, L ‘ Hospitalet, Jerez de la Frontera, Móstoles, Murcia, Oviedo, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Pamplona, Sabadell, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Terrassa, Valladolid, Vigo and Vitoria) corresponding to 13 autonomous communities, with 5,262 respondents from 18 to 79 years in the month of July this year

In this study, half of the people of Granada say they are satisfied with all municipal services, while 37% are clearly dissatisfied. This is the second highest number of dissatisfaction of the 30 cities that participate in the survey, Granada being below the national average of 62 and 21% respectively.

After the water supply, the best valued services are garbage collection, with 58% acceptance; the care of parks and gardens with 46%; street cleaning, with 44%; and, lastly, public transport, which receives 39% positive and 34% negative opinions.

Regarding the water supply, the best valued aspect is the quality of the water supplied, with 89% positive opinions. It is followed by good management with no cuts, pressure and good operation of the meter, with 85% and sewer service with 62%.

In garbage collection, which satisfies 58% of the people of Granada surveyed, the best considered aspect (with 85% acceptance) is the frequency of the collection service. This is followed by the container service for selective collection, with 74%, and the provision and equipment for the provision of the service, with 61%.

In the care of parks and gardens, which has a satisfaction rate of 46%, the most appreciated aspects are the quality of the facilities, the equipment of the parks for different ages and the care of green areas.

Street cleaning and public transport are the lowest rated services, with 44 and 39% satisfaction, respectively. In street cleaning, cleaning parks and public facilities is the most highly valued aspect.

Regarding transportation, it receives 39% positive opinions compared to 34% negative opinions. What the surveyed citizens of this service value the most is the state of cleanliness and conservation of the vehicles, with 69% of positive opinions. Access to neighborhoods and comfort when making journeys, with 47 and 46% respectively of negative opinions, are the aspects that generate the most dissatisfaction.

For the general director of OSUR, Ramiro Aurín, “the data reveals that Granada has the same order of acceptance of its public services as the country as a whole, and is situated on the average for water supply and garbage collection.” However, “the valuation as a whole collapses due to the low valuation of street cleaning and the care of public spaces, but above all due to the burden that the very low valuation that the Metro entails for public transport, with the contradiction of that Granada is the city that considers that its transport system has improved the most in the last two years. “
