The Granada City Council is going to resort to credit supplements to be able to pay urban transport bills and the payrolls of officials between now and the end of the year. The Economy Commission this Tuesday has approved two files to allocate 1.7 million euros to the payment of the August urban transport bill and 4.8 million for the payment of payrolls within Chapter I of City Council personnel here at the end of the year.
As explained by the spokesperson for the municipal government, Jorge Saavedra, before the commission, the economic situation of the City Council requires these budget modifications since “the allocation for the remainder of the year has been exhausted” in both concepts.
In the case of urban transport, there are 1.7 million for the August bill and those for the rest of the year until December are also left without appropriation, so we will have to resort to these extraordinary budget modification operations, which transfer the money from other items to these concepts. One of the chapters from which this budget is taken is the electricity consumption item, from which other amounts have already been taken, also in the PSOE government, for the provision of energy savings and for the judicialization of claims by Endesa .
“In transport, the hole between now and the end of the year will be 10 million euros, an economic legacy that is a problem for 2023 and for balancing the 2024 budgets,” said Saavedra.
Regarding Chapter I, “the item has also been exhausted”, so the budget modification is 4.8 million to pay payrolls until December and ensure payment to municipal staff.
Saavedra also recalled the 2.7 million euros that were not allocated to pay Inagra. “With these figures we are already going through an economic hole of 20.6 million euros.
