Grain: We could play even better

The Latvian duo Tīna Graudiņa / Anastasija Kravčenoka still had reserves in the first European Volleyball Championship beach volleyball game, Tīna Graudiņa said in a conversation with the news agency LETA after the match.

In the first game of the championship, the European champions Graudiņš and Kravčenoka, who were placed in the fifth number, played Finnish athletes Rīk Lehtonen and Nīna Ahtiainen 2-0 (21:14, 21:14) in this championship, who are playing with the 28th number in Jūrmala.

“We were in a good mood for the game and wanted to beat the opponents from the very beginning of the game,” said Graudiņa after the game. “We had developed a match plan with coach Andris Krūmiņš and we adhered to it. We were better than our opponents, and the result could have been even greater, because in the first set I was whistled the wrong pass twice. ”

“Maybe we benefited from a forced rest before the championship,” Kravchenoka added. “We did well in the summer, and maybe this break was necessary.”

Graudiņa is proud to show her own sewn-up hair holder in the colors of the Latvian flag, joking that due to the positive test of Covid-19, she has been doing handicrafts for two weeks of forced breaks.

“The reaction to the ball was a bit late – the body reacted to the thought a little slower than usual,” says the athlete about the consequences of downtime. “It was better in the end.”

“The control of the ball was not so good,” adds mate Kravchenok. “It simply came to our notice then. I was so happy that we were still allowed to start. There was joy and optimism. ”

Graudiņa emphasizes that in general, both elements of the game performed well on both sides of the duo on Tuesday. “However, there is a heat in the middle of the first set,” admits the volleyball player. “In the attack, they wanted to hit the ball hard in the sand, scoring a point. He lacked a cool mind. ”

Kravčenoka immediately mentions that the woman served very well, to which Graudiņa immediately agrees.

“We played well as a team,” Jūrmalniece puts the final emphasis on the analysis of the game. “I didn’t have many points with the block, but with the block I directed the bomb’s flight to Anastasia, who found it easier to leave the bombs in the air and then score.”

“We played accurately,” explains Kravchenok.
