Botched work as creative craftsmanship
Those who build their dream house often wake up in a nightmare. Delays, wrong materials, waiting in vain for tradesmen or site managers – the song about the building site has many verses that you’d rather not sing. This also applies to VIPs.
Oh dear! Hazel Brugger has a building site and the comedian doesn’t find it funny at all. The problems with the construction have made her laugh so much that she has hired a security service to protect her from angry workmen, because she happily posts about everything that goes wrong. OK, she’s building in Germany. Things are probably very different in Switzerland. Really? Shaqiri or Federer: there are lots of construction sites in this country that are full of problems.
But it’s not just the stars who are affected – ordinary home builders in Eastern Switzerland can also sing a lament. The windows in Appenzell are and remain leaky despite repair efforts. When moving into the new home, water runs from the shower cubicle into the stairwell. The smart house doesn’t want to open the front door and the light shaft for the stairs lets the residents in on the rain. The list is endless. “Craftsmen don’t do shoddy work, they’re creative,” is a much-quoted construction site saying. Gallows humor is when you laugh anyway.
