Gracie Abrams: Inspiring Singer Takes Germany by Storm with Sold-Out Shows

Hamburg (dpa) – She recently appeared in the opening act for megastar Taylor Swift and Hollywood mogul JJ Abrams (“Star Wars”, “Star Trek”) is her father – but 24-year-old Gracie Abrams doesn’t need any name-dropping, she simply inspires as a singer. After a successful US tour, she is now in Germany for four sold-out shows. On Thursday evening the Californian played in the Große Freiheit on the Reeperbahn. Queues had been forming since midday in the hope of getting good seats, with young women and girls in particular waiting to get in.

Gracie Abrams delighted her fans with poetic pop songs about love, disappointed love or disappointing lovers, such as in the song “Where do we go now?”, in which she comes to the conclusion: “Can’t you tell our light burned out? ” (For example: Don’t you notice that our light has burned out?). Other songs from her album, some of which she also plays guitar or keyboard, such as “I know it won’t work” or “This is what the drugs are for” followed, and of course she also sang early hits like “I miss you, I ‘m sorry” or “21”. There was hardly a song that the fans didn’t sing along loudly and with certain lyrics.

Rolling Stones magazine named her one of the hottest young artists in pop music and praised “Good Riddance” as one of the best debut albums of the year. Their euphoric fans in Hamburg more than agreed.
