Grab Skills Help Partners & Drivers Fight Covid-19

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Grab Indonesia will introduce 24 initiatives to assist driver, delivery and merchant partners in dealing with Covid-19.

Grab Indonesia’s Managing Director, Neneng Goenadi, said that in line with GrabForGood’s commitment, Grab is trying to make more people able to continue their business through the Grab platform during this pandemic.

“We welcomed more than 83,500 new merchant partners and Grab agents within 3 months during the pandemic and introduced more than 24 initiatives to help our driver, delivery and merchant partners through this turbulent time. But we all know, there are still many who continue to struggle. with various difficulties out there, “he said, quoting his written statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (1/7/2020).


There are 4 things Grab will focus on during the pandemic. The first is to support a leading Guard where more than 20 company partners and leading brands work together with Grab to provide more than 360 thousand liters of rice and more than 72 thousand liters of cooking oil. In addition there are also other basic needs to nutritious food and drinks.

“These Grab donation initiatives have been supported by Unilever Indonesia, Nestlé Indonesia, Danone, The Coca-Cola Company, Samyang Green by Heonz, Bank Mandiri, BNI, Telkomsel, Adira Insurance, OVO, Prudential, and Plaza Ambarrukmo,” he explained.

Not only that, more than 20,500 liters of disinfectant fluid, 240 thousand masks to more than 4 thousand free rapid tests were distributed to GRab partners and medical staff.

Second, Grab gave birth to an innovation where more than 18 thousand protectors were installed in the GrabCar and GrabBike fleets. Then 1.9 million kilometers traveled using GrabCar and GrabBike Protect since launch. This distance is equivalent to 360x round trip Sabang to Merauke.

Furthermore 3,700 medical personnel have been delivered using a special GrabCar Protect fleet, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy. And 100 GrabWheels fleets are provided at the COVID19 Emergency Management Hospital at Kemayoran Athletes Hospital for ease of mobility of medical personnel.

Third, linking Goodness, at least more than 850,000 special menus were purchased by customers for delivery partners through 7,800 GrabFood merchant partners in Indonesia.

Furthermore 63% more tips, where the number of tips increased by customers for driver partners and delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic. Also recorded IDR 1.4 billion donations collected from customers collected through the GrabRewards Catalog and Widget to buy groceries and PPE for medical staff and Grab partners.

Finally, Grab creates Opportunities & Increases Capacity where more than 83,500 new merchant partners and Grab agents join. Grab also Provides digitalization opportunities for more Indonesian MSMEs and more than 379,000 driver partners who have taken GrabAcademy digital literacy training.

Neneng added, the acceleration of UMKM digitalization and reskilling became the focus of Grab going forward, especially for gig workers in Indonesia. Through the Keep Business program that was just launched, Grab continues to strengthen its focus and commitment to help millions of MSMEs progress.

MSMEs will continue to be the key to ensuring that communities can maintain their livelihoods, especially in an increasingly challenging economic period in the future. However, this crisis period also shows how SMEs can be very vulnerable.
