The Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (SHMF), founded in 1986, is one of the largest area festivals in the world. It plays in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg as well as parts of Denmark and Lower Saxony. The focus is on classical music, but other genres such as pop, jazz, theater, electro, klezmer, comedy and readings are also performed.
Starting this season, the integrated energy supplier GP Joule from Reußenköge will be the main sponsor of the SHMF for an initial period of three years.
Ove Petersen, co-founder and CEO of GP Joule, underlines the similarities between the two partners: “Anchored in Schleswig-Holstein, with a lot of energy, change as a driving force and future-oriented ideas whose appeal extends far beyond the north: That is GP Joule and that SHMF.”
Green mobility in focus
The partnership between the SHMF and GP Joule will be themed in 2024
Green mobility stand. The energy supplier provides the festival with, among other things, hydrogen buses for the transfer of the international Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra. The 110 young musicians are taken daily by the locally climate-neutral shuttle from the Nordkolleg in Rendsburg to their rehearsal location, the ACO Thormannhalle.
New offers are also to be created for the members of the festival association: In the future, the membership cards will be usable as charging cards from GP Joule in order to create incentives for the use of electromobility. This measure is supplemented by mobile charging stations that are used at various festival locations. And the SHMF team can also be happy about great progress: GP Joule is upgrading the charging infrastructure at the festival headquarters in Lübeck. Intelligent charging management enables even more efficient use of the mobility partner BMW’s electric fleet.
