GP Ansor Suggests Four Names for Vice Presidential Candidate to Accompany Ganjar Pranowo in 2024 Presidential Election

Ganjar has been officially declared a presidential candidate by his party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).

Yaqut said a leader with experience and high credibility was needed by Indonesia to face big challenges.

“We are grateful that this nation gave birth to many highly qualified and integrity leaders such as Mr. Erick Thohir, Mr. Sandiaga Uno, Mr. Mahfud MD, Mr. Ridwan Kamil,” he said in a written statement, Sunday (23/4).

The Minister of Religion is confident that in the 2024 presidential election the four of them will be able to become leaders.

Yaqut claims the four figures have been proven to have made many achievements and also have experience to a high reputation even at the international level.

He then gave the example of Erick, who is considered to have experience both in government and outside government. Yaqut said that Erick, who is also a Banser cadre, can carry out several big tasks for the country very well, collaborate with many parties and have broad visions.

“This potential and excellence is what the Indonesian people really need in the midst of today’s challenges. I firmly believe that if he moves forward with Pak Ganjar, he will be the ideal partner because there is chemistry and they can complement each other,” he said.

As for the other three figures, Yaqut thinks they have also proven their capacity as a leader who can accompany Ganjar.

“They are politicians who are mature and also experienced in government. Just as Mr. Sandi is also an expert on economics and tactics, so is Mr. Mahfud, a senior leader who is brave and clean,” said Gus Yaqut.

Finally, Yaqut said that his party hopes that the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election will produce national leaders who are qualified, broad-minded and tough.

“GP Ansor is optimistic that Indonesia can progress because it has a lot of qualified and experienced leaders,” he concluded.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed the names that are suitable and have the opportunity to become vice presidential or vice presidential candidates accompanying Ganjar Pranowo, the presidential candidate of the PDIP, in the 2024 presidential election.

Starting from the Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, to the Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto are among these names.

The names of these officials were conveyed by Jokowi when answering journalists’ questions about which potential figures would be suitable as running mate for Ganjar Pranowo.

“How come I asked, many (suitable). There are Mr. Erick, Mr. Sandiaga Uno, Mr. Mahfud, Mr. Ridwan Kamil, Cak Imin, and Mr. Airlangga. Including Mr. Prabowo,” said Jokowi after the Eid prayer 1444 Hijriah at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Solo , Saturday (22/4).

Apart from Ganjar, two other figures who will run for president are Anies Rasyid Baswedan and Prabowo Subianto. These three names always come out on top in survey polls.

Apart from the three figures, currently the name of the cawapres is a hot stock. The candidate for the cawapres is considered to have a big impact on the award.

The names of the current vice presidential candidates who have surfaced apart from the four names mentioned earlier by Yaqut, are also the names of East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Democratic General Chair Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar.
