Goya Awards Gala telematics – Valencia

The deputy mayor of Valencia, Sandra Gómez, reported this Tuesday that the Valencia City Council, together with the Film Academy, have made the decision that this year the Goya Awards gala will be held online and without physical presence . A decision that, according to Gómez, is “the most reasonable, sensible and responsible for the current circumstances.”

This is how the deputy mayor has pronounced after the announcement by the Film Academy that the Gala will be held only from the Soho Caixabank Theater in Malaga, with only telematic assistance. “With a very high incidence of covid, we have to avoid any possibility of holding large gatherings or concentrations of people, and the leading administrations and institutions such as the Film Academy have to be exemplary,” said Gómez.

Regarding the decision taken jointly by the City Council and the Film Academy, the deputy mayor stressed that “it is a pity that we cannot participate as a city in this Goya Awards gala, but what is important and paramount is health.” And she added that “we are already looking for other forms of participation in this gala so that the starting signal of the Berlanga year is visible, and our city too”. «This was one of the objectives that we were looking for as a city and as a City Council, because we want this Goya gala to continue symbolizing the starting point for this year’s tribute to our best national and international film director, and to one of the most important sons that the city of Valencia has”, concluded the vice-mayor.
