Governor Texas: Fine for Mandatory Mouth Mask | Abroad

Abbot states that the coronavirus is adequately combated with vaccines, medicines and, for example, keeping your distance. He no longer wants to deny the inhabitants of his state the freedom to choose whether or not to wear a mouth mask.

Texas had already retired from duty, but ended up in a lawsuit when officials in the capital Austin opposed it. A government official who still requires people to wear a face mask from Friday, could face a fine of up to $ 1,000. Some prisons and hospitals are exempt from the measure. Schools get a little more time, but the Texas teachers association thinks Abbot is moving too fast, local media report.

Like many other Republican party members of former President Trump, Abbot reluctantly enacted a masking requirement when hospitals were overwhelmed by the number of corona patients.
