Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Governor of West Sumatra (West Sumatra), Mahyeldi Ansarullah appreciate the assistance of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) for handling Covid-19 in their area.
The day before, Mahyeldi was called by Jokowi to discuss the handling of Covid-19 in West Sumatra. In that conversation, Jokowi promised to send medical aid to medical oxygen.
“I was surprised that Pak Jokowi called, it felt like a dream to me, indeed Jokowi likes to make surprises,” said Mahyeldi at Minangkabau International Airport (BIM), Friday (6/8).
There are three boxes of aid packages that read from RI 1. Packages with the words Package 1, Package 2 and Package 3 were immediately checked by Mahyeldi at the airport’s VIP room page.
A number of blue, yellow, and green boxes were seen with the words self-isolation packages written on them.
Two of the three drug packages contained several logos such as the logo of BUMN, the Covid-19 Task Force, the Ministry of Health and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investments (Marves). While the blue package only includes the Kimia Farma Mobile Logo, and the IHC Telemed Logo.
“With this assistance, it is hoped that Covid-19 will soon subside,” he said.
Mahyeldi said that a new medical oxygen concentrator will arrive on Saturday (7/8) tomorrow. Meanwhile, additional stock of Covid-19 vaccines will follow next week.
“The oxygen concentrator will come tomorrow, and the vaccine next week,” he said.
Furthermore, Mahyeldi admitted that he had reported all the obstacles to handling Covid-19 in West Sumatra yesterday to Jokowi. He also asked for help to speed up the handling of the corona virus pandemic.
“Yesterday the president called us and we explained what the obstacles were facing West Sumatra today. I spoke to ask for his help, so that he was given assistance,” said Mahyeldi.
According to Mahyeldi, West Sumatra received assistance from the center because Jokowi is quite sensitive and considerate, especially for areas that are quite impressive for him.
“Jokowi is a sensitive person, right, or his attention to the region and Padang has left quite a mark on him. This assistance is an answer to the prayers of many parties so far,” he said.
The head of the West Sumatra Health Service, Arry Yuswandi, said that Jokowi’s medicines will be used for patients who are undergoing self-isolation. Each patient will receive one box of medicine according to their respective symptoms.
Arry explained that drug package 1 was intended for asymptomatic Covid-19 patients or OTG, drug package 2 for positive patients with symptoms of fever and loss of smell or anosmia, and drug package 3 for positive patients with symptoms of fever and dry cough.
“Each box of medicine will be aimed at positive Covid-19 patients with different symptoms,” said Arry.
