MEXICO – The Chamber of Deputies notified the Governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca, on Monday, the beginning of the process of impeachment against him so that he can face the accusations of the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office.
Ignacio Mier, coordinator of the Morena party in the Chamber of Deputies, explained that the notification occurred this Monday, two days after the Investigative Section entered the petition for violation presented by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
The notification was made by the attorney general of the Chamber, Luis Genaro Vázquez, who traveled to Tamaulipas to formally serve García Cabeza de Vaca.
Shortly before, the lawyer was received by the Lawyer of the Tamaulipas government.
On February 26, the FGR ratified the request for violation of García Cabeza de Vaca, whom it accuses of money laundering, operations with resources of illicit origin and similar tax fraud.
According to the Chamber of Deputies, García Cabeza de Vaca has a period of seven calendar days to state in writing what is convenient for his right and defense.

The governor of Tamaulipas has insisted that the accusations are a manufactured campaign against him by the federal government to divert attention from the country’s real problems.
In addition, he assured that both the Prosecutor’s Office and the authorities that accuse him have hidden the files of the accusations against him.
On Sunday, the state president led a massive march in Ciudad Victoria, the state capital, to reject the violation and thanked the public for support in the face of what he calls an “onslaught by the federal government.”
