The governor of the North Kivu province, General Peter Cirimwami, launched on Friday March 8 at Mavivi airport in Beni, the construction work of the Mavivi terminal, but also that of the rehabilitation of the Mbau-Kamango-Nobili road axis, 76 kilometers long.
This work, the cost of which is estimated at nearly 9 million US dollars, is being carried out by the companies CAT-Projects Africa and JOKAS.
According to the general director of the company CAT-Projects Africa, this work will involve the construction of the terminal at Mavivi airport, the concreting of the parking lot for planes and vehicles, the construction of a new runway, ramps and tarmac, or the concreting of avenue Julien Paluku.
For the governor of North Kivu, the modernization of Mavivi airport is a response to user demand and a response to the fluidity of traffic between different provinces:
“In its current state, our Beni airport, which nevertheless serves us well, does not meet civil aviation standards. The construction and moderation of the Mavivi terminal constitutes a response to a demand from users of this infrastructure, but also for the entire population who benefit directly and indirectly from this project.
To finance this work, which will last 14 months, the money will come from funds generated by taxes and royalties from the province. To this end, the provincial governor invites the population of North Kivu to be tax-conscious.
As for the rehabilitation work on the Mbau-Kamango-Nobili road axis, 76 kilometers long, it will be carried out by the JOKAS company.
