Major General Ibrahim Abu Laymoun, Governor of Menoufia, held a meeting to discuss the mechanisms for implementing the work of the Presidential Initiative to Care for “Maternal and Fetal Health,” which was launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and which aims to provide free medical and therapeutic services to women and ensure the health of the mother and fetus.
This came in the presence of Mohamed Moussa, Deputy Governor, Dr. Hazem Khamis of the Nile Valley Hospital in Cairo, representatives of the National Council for Women in Cairo and Menoufia, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Menoufia, the Deputy Director of the Health Directorate, the Director of the Shebin El-Kom Teaching Hospital, the Head of the Doctors Syndicate in Menoufia, the heads of the obstetrics and gynecology departments at the University Hospital and the Teaching Hospital. .
The governor explained, in a statement today, Thursday, that the initiative aims to provide the mother with the necessary medical and clinical examinations and analyzes free of charge, and early detection of diseases transmitted from the mother to the fetus, as well as all diseases that could affect the health of the fetus.
He revealed the provision of follow-up and treatment services through health centers and units spread across the governorate’s centers and cities to reduce the burden of preventable diseases and deaths among mothers and children. The initiative aims to activate and improve the quality of routine services that are provided within the maternal care protocol through maternity and child care services, as well as follow-up. Maternal and fetal health throughout pregnancy and for 42 days after birth.
The governor affirmed the provision of the necessary facilities and logistical support to make this initiative a success, achieve its goal, and ensure the provision of medical services to all mothers. He appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Health and its prominent role in upgrading the medical system, stressing his full support for the health sector and the implementation of many giant medical projects to improve the quality of life for citizens.
