Governor of East Nusa Tenggara Calls for Increased Protein Consumption to Combat Poverty

Kupang

Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat presented a comparison of eating between rich and poor people. According to him, the poor eat more rice than protein.

“So the characteristics of rich people, look at where they eat. If they take a lot of rice, they are poor, but if they have a lot of protein, they are rich,” said Viktor while attending the celebration of the 2nd National Food Agency which was held in Kupang City, NTT, Saturday (12/8/2023).

So, said Viktor, the need for food in NTT must be encouraged with lots of protein not carbohydrates. If there is still a commotion over rice, it is a sign that the community is poor.

“That’s what he eats while kissing white rice again. You should increase your protein so you don’t get fat,” he said.

Viktor hopes that the National Food Agency (Bapanas) will campaign for the public to eat more protein every hour. The goal is to give birth to an intelligent generation.

“Carbohydrates also make you sleepy and blood sugar. All of them are problematic. That’s why I hope that Bapanas will start campaigning for eating more protein among the general public,” he added.
