Governor Kathy Hochul announced three offshore wind projects and 22 onshore renewable energy projects on Tuesday, what she described as the largest state investment in renewable energy in US history.
Once completed, these projects will be able to power 2.6 million New York homes with renewable energy and satisfy approximately 12 percent of New York’s electricity needs, according to a message on social media.
Today New York is making the nation’s largest-ever state investment in renewable energy:
25 renewable energy projects that will generate enough energy to power 2.6 million homes and create 8,300 union jobs and $20 billion in economic investments.

Likewise, the state of New York maintains that the project portfolio will create approximately 8,300 jobs and generate 20 billion dollars (more than 18 billion euros) in economic development investments throughout the state.
“New York continues to set the pace for our nation’s transition to clean energy,” Hochul said at a news conference.
After these awards, New York will have enough renewable energy projects to supply 79% of the state’s electricity needs in 2030 with renewable energy.
