North Sumatra Governor (Gubsu) Edy Rahmayadi responding to the finding of 1 million kg of cooking oil which was allegedly stored in a warehouse in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. Governor Edy asked the police to intervene on the findings.

“For this hoarding case, we have also processed this finding with the police so that it will be processed by law,” said Edy on his Instagram, Friday (18/2/2022).

Edy said that his party had given a stern warning to producers and asked for the cooking oil to be distributed immediately. Edy reminded him not to play around with the suffering of his people.

“The point is the same with me, don’t try to play on the suffering of my people, especially this pandemic season. Everything is difficult, so let’s use our hearts together so we don’t oppress the people,” he said.

Previously reported, the Food Task Force of North Sumatra Province found a pile of cooking oil that was not circulated and stored in a warehouse in the Deli Serdang area. The number of piles of cooking oil in the packaging is around 1.1 million kg.

“Today, we have seen the fact that around 1.1 million kilograms of cooking oil have been stockpiled ready to be marketed in warehouses,” said Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Government’s Economic Bureau, Naslindo Sirait, Friday (18/2).

Naslindo said the officer at the warehouse admitted that he did not distribute cooking oil because of the policy issued by his superiors. For this reason, Naslindo said he would leave this matter to the police.

“Currently, it is difficult for people to get cooking oil while there are companies that do not distribute it,” he added.
