Governor David Monreal endorses his desire to expand and strengthen the link between Zacatecas and Canada

Zacatecas, Zac., February 21, 2023.- In his commitment to generate economic development and well-being for the families of Zacatecas, Governor David Monreal Ávila received the Ambassador of Canada in Mexico, Graeme Christie Clark, with whom he endorsed his desire to expand and strengthen the commercial, labor, academic and cultural bond that exists with this country through the diplomatic mechanisms of the Mexican State.
On the second day of the courtesy visit made to Zacatecas by the Canadian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, the state president led a meeting with members of the Mining Cluster (Clusmin) and with businessmen from the mining industry who are installed in the entity.
The purpose of this meeting, explained Governor David Monreal, is to work in coordination with the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Economy of the Federal Government and the Canadian Embassy to attract greater foreign direct investment, strengthen programs for the benefit of migrants from Zacatecas, as well as detonate the four tractor axes of the administration to promote development and well-being, which are mining, the countryside, industry and tourism.
He stressed that Canada is an important partner for Mexico and Zacatecas, since this entity is the one that has received the most Canadian investment in the entire country, especially in terms of mining activity; He exemplified that, in the last 10 years, the amount of investment from that country in this state was more than 4 billion dollars.
When welcoming him, before businessmen and members of the Mining Cluster, Governor David Monreal reminded him that, recently, through the Ministry of Economy, directed by Rodrigo Castañeda Miranda, the Program for the Development of Suppliers was established with the mining companies Local.
He mentioned that, from the beginning of his administration, it was proposed that mining be part of a vanguard public policy to take advantage of the potential of this activity and, with it, generate economic development and well-being for the families of the Zacatecan entity.
The investments, said Monreal Ávila, are a sign of confidence in the state, since Zacatecas has the conditions for development and economic growth, since there is great inter-institutional coordination, legal certainty in parks and industrial zones, labor peace and a constant development.
Governor David Monreal trusted that this courtesy visit will be virtuous, of great benefit and important results, in order to strengthen the link that exists between Canada and Mexico, especially with Zacatecas, so that the business portfolio is expanded and the status as an investment destination.
He proposed to Ambassador Graeme Christie Clark that a work agenda be built in the short term, in the interest that Zacatecas be considered to promote agricultural development and the tourism issue, with which they would be addressed, together with mining and industry , the four driving axes for development.
Governor David Monreal thanked the Ambassador for his presence and for listening to businessmen and members of the Mining Cluster, as well as his interest in consolidating the different programs and actions in favor of migrant Zacatecans, with the academy, on cultural and tourism issues. .

The members of the Mining Cluster discussed, together with Governor David Monreal and Ambassador Graeme Christie Clark, issues such as sustainability, community relations, gender equality, request for negotiations with different authorities, as well as benefits and experiences that they have had as investors in Zacatecas.
