The hardest hit US state of New York may have passed the peak of the corona crisis. So said Governor Andrew Cuomo at his daily press conference on the latest developments. 540 new corona deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours, the lowest increase since April 1.
The number of corona patients admitted to hospitals decreased for the third consecutive day. Yesterday, 2,000 hospitalized patients with corona complaints were added, “still an overwhelming number,” said Cuomo.
“If you look at the last three days, you could argue that we’ve passed the peak and are now on our way back. That would be very good news,” Cuomo said cautiously. The number of patients treated in the ICU is also decreasing. Although the emergency rooms are no longer overcrowded, no point has yet been reached at which to think about relaxing corona restrictions, the governor also said.
