With attention focused on unnecessary missteps and avoiding possible blunders, the government and the staff of Kyriakos Mitsotakis are preparing immediately after Easter for the final stretch of four weeks until the polls on June 9.
The crash tests of the local… epitaphs will have been mediated, where it is expected to establish whether the moratorium at the leadership level between the government and Church it will also bring practical results, while as found in the opinion polls and special surveys, the measure of success for the ND will again be the well-known balance between maintaining dominance in the center and limiting losses to the right and abstention.
With these in mind, Kyriakos Mitsotakis made his last appearance and speech in Parliament before the Easter holidays on Tuesday, giving an account of the first year of the second government term and summarizing the electoral dilemmas, during the discussion of the ministry’s Justice.
It was also preceded by his meetings with the party’s deputies, which appeared to have worked as a relief valve and beneficial in the run-up to the elections, after a period in which there had been strong evidence of dissatisfaction, especially due to the way he was managed same-sex marriage.
In this context, the government’s strategy for the time remaining until the European elections is expected to manifest itself basically with the emphasis that will be given to issues of special interest and mainly for the most conservative public.
Predominant among these will be the issues of security (the KYSEA meeting is also scheduled for Wednesday), legality and defense, in combination with immigration management, while at the same time attempts will be made to close the wounds in the affected areas of Thessaly and to cultivate an expectation for the next day in Europe and the claims that the government will want to put forward.
