President Andrés Manuel López Obrador held a meeting with the health sector and part of his cabinet to accelerate the National Anticovid Vaccination Plan in Mexico to approve new biologics such as Moderna and, at the moment, they have not been approved doses of Pfizer vaccine for people 12 to 18 years of age.
After leaving the National Palace, the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, pointed out that the meeting analyzed the authorization of new anticovid vaccines and also accelerate vaccination in order to conclude before this year.
This week, The Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) could authorize the Modern American anticovid vaccine and said that Mexico will be among the three countries with the most authorized biologicals in the world.
Another topic to discuss, he said, was related to the use of vaccines depending on the circulation of the variants of concern and interest for which efficacy tests are being carried out.
For the moment, he added, no doses of the Pfizer vaccine were approved for the 12-18 age group in Mexico.
