Government: Transferring the affiliation of the banned channel will give impetus to the two institutions

Al-Akhbar (Nouakchott) – Minister of Equipment and Transportation and government spokesman Elnani Ould Cherouqa confirmed that transferring the affiliation of Al-Mahdara channel from the Mauritanian channel to Radio Mauritania will enable “give more efficiency to the two institutions.”

Ould Echorouga added during a press conference on Wednesday evening that the step will also enable them to rationalize their expenses.

The minister affirmed the Cabinet’s endorsement of the decision following a statement presented by the Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports and Relations with Parliament on this subject.

Last Thursday, the Minister of Culture, Mohamed Ould Asweidat, formed a committee whose chairmanship was entrusted to the Secretary-General of the Ministry, Mamiziza Bint Karbali, and assigned her to study the requirements for transferring the affiliation of Al-Mahdara channel from the Mauritanian channel, Radio Mauritania.

The committee held a meeting under the chairmanship of its chair and in the presence of all the members of the committee, except for the director of the Mauritanian channel, Muhammad Muhammad Abu al-Maali, who was absent from the meeting.

The committee prepared a report, including a summary of its work, and referred it to the minister, who presented it to the members of the Council of Ministers. Its conclusions were the approval of transferring the channel’s affiliation to Radio Mauritania.
