Those who died in the plane crash in the Canton of San Eduardo, Pasaquina, La Unión will be honored today at the former Presidential House, located in San Jacinto, and then buried.

The institutional account of the Presidential House reported that the eight deceased would be watched over from 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday for 24 hours. “With respect and solemnity we will pay tribute to our heroes who died in the line of duty. Their legacy will live in the hearts of Salvadorans,” said the Presidency.

The Salvadoran Air Force UH-1H helicopter carrying the nine people reportedly crashed in Pasaquina, La Unión, after the Salvadoran authorities received Manuel Coto Barrientos, former manager of COSAVI, from the Honduran government after he was captured in that country.

The deceased in the plane crash were: the director of the National Civil Police (PNC), Commissioner Mauricio Arriaza Chicas; Commissioner Rómulo Pompilio Romero, Commissioner Douglas Omar García, Corporal Abel Antonio Arévalo, Lieutenant Raymundo Morán, Lieutenant Alexis Alberto Quijano, Sub-Sergeant Batres Lucero and the government communicator, David Cruz Guevara. Also, Coto Barrientos is believed to have died, although his whereabouts are unknown, nor is it known if he was laid to rest by his family.

It is planned that at 6:00 pm this Tuesday, the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, and the families of the deceased will have a private event. At eight o’clock in the evening onwards, the wake will be held with the body present with family and friends.
