WARTAKOTALIVE.COM. JAKARTA – Direct cash assistance (BLT) for those affected by the El Nino phenomenon will be distributed simultaneously and massively by the government at the end of 2023.
After a visit to the Genteng District Post Office, Banyuwangi, Wednesday (27/12/2023), the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) directly inspected the distribution of BLT El Nino to the Manado KCU Post Office, Thursday (28/12/2023).
A total of 300 KPM came to the KCU Manado Post Office to receive BLT EL Nino social assistance. As is known, BLT El Nino is one of the government’s efforts to help increase people’s purchasing power amidst rising prices caused by the long drought.
In front of the KPMs, President Jokowi said he had come to the Manado Post Office to review the distribution of BLT for residents of Manado City who were affected by the El Nino phenomenon.
“I checked about the distribution of BLT El Nino and I saw that everything was smooth, everything had been received,” said President Jokowi.
Apart from reviewing cash assistance (BLT), President Jokowi also reviewed the distribution of 10 kilograms of rice to communities affected by the El Nino phenomenon. This rice has been distributed since September 2023.
The President said that rice assistance will not only last until December 2023 but will continue until January, February and March 2024. He hopes that this assistance will help the people of South Sulawesi.
“The increase in the rice aid quota for the next three months is certain,” said Jokowi.
Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini revealed that the El Nino BLT program would be distributed to 18.8 million beneficiary families (KPM) throughout Indonesia. Each KPM will receive IDR 200,000 per month.
For this period, KPM will receive IDR 400,000 for the period November December 2023. In order to speed up the distribution process, the government chose PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) as the main distribution channel.
