Government team of San Sebastián de los Reyes City Council joined the students of CEIP Príncipe Felipe on their first day of classes of the 2023/2024 academic year. The mayoress of the city, Lucía S. Fernández, the Councilor for Security, Carlos Bolarín, and the Councilor for Education, María Ordóñez, toured various classrooms of different cycles and met with the teachers of the center.
This school year has marked the return of the safe school path and the strengthening of the Tutor Agent figure. In addition, key measures have been implemented, such as the advancement and doubling of scholarships for canteens and school supplies, along with the continuation of the Sanse Concilia program. María Ordóñez, Councilor for Education, highlighted the importance of these measures by stating: “Families need the Government to help with conciliation, both for the hours in which the parents are working, and for non-school days.”
Lucía S. Fernández, mayor of the city, reaffirmed her government’s commitment to education, stressing that “Schoolchildren who start school today are the society of tomorrow and everything we do to improve educational quality in our municipality is a priority”.
Enrollment figures in San Sebastián de los Reyes
The 2023/2024 academic year will have a total of 9,200 students enrolled in all publicly funded schools in San Sebastián de los Reyes. Of this number, 5,691 are students of Early Childhood and Primary Education, who began their classes today. Tomorrow, September 7, the school period will begin for the 3,509 students enrolled in Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training. In addition, a figure of 1,819 students has been registered in subsidized centers in the city for the new school year.
Improvements in Educational Centers during the Summer
The Department of Works and Infrastructures has carried out a series of works in schools during the summer, taking advantage of the period in which students are not in class. The works and improvements in the interior spaces of the centers have been prioritized to guarantee that everything was ready for the start of the school period.
Schools that benefited from these improvements include Antonio Machado, Buero Vallejo, Carrillo, Fuentesanta, Infantas, León Felipe, Miguel Delibes, Príncipe Felipe, Quinto Centenario, San Sebastián, Silvio Abad, Teresa Calcutta, and Valvanera. In addition, reforms were carried out at the La Locomotora Nursery School, which included the door of the baby room and various repairs.
