A plane with 1.5 million Sinovac doses, “made in China”, landed this Wednesday afternoon at Las Americas International Airport (AILA).
It is the seventh batch that arrives from the Asian country, mainly a seller of the drugs to the Dominican Republic. The Government has bought 10.7 million Sinovac doses, of which 7.7 million have arrived, which have been used in the National Vaccination Plan.
The drugs arrived at 3:00 in the afternoon in a Boeing of the TUI airline, from Belgium, the country where the package made a stopover.
As on all occasions, the vaccines were received by Vice President Raquel Peña, coordinator of the Health Cabinet, other officials, and the Chinese ambassador to the country, Zhang Run.
In general, the Dominican Republic has imported 8.3 million vaccines, and of those 6,473,104 doses have been applied, since February 16, when the National Vaccination Plan began.
In addition to the Chinese vaccines, authorities received 228,150 vaccines last week from pharmaceutical company Pfizer.
