Government Provides Electric Vehicle Incentives, Gesits Promises to Increase TKDN

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Director of PT WIKA Industri Manufaktur (WIMA) Bernardi Djumiril promised to increase the level of domestic components or TKDN in producing Gesits electric motorcycles. Moreover, the government has suppressed the incentive policy to purchase electric motorbikes worth IDR 7 million per unit. Currently, the TKDN of Gesits motorbikes reaches 46.73 percent.

“We will continue to innovate. As the work of the nation’s children, we will continue to increase the TKDN for electrical and non-electric components,” said Bernardi at the PLN Headquarters, Friday, March 10, 2023.

He added, “Indeed, electrical components are still being imported. But it will be reduced, especially if IBC (Indonesia Battery Corporation) has produced local batteries,” he added.

Bernardi does indeed welcome the government’s policy on electric vehicle incentives. According to him, this policy does not only help electric vehicle manufacturers. “But helping people get electric vehicles at economical prices,” said Bernardi in a written statement, Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

Bernardi also hopes that people’s interest in switching to electric vehicles will increase because the prices are affordable. Moreover, it is planned that this incentive policy will be implemented in the near future, namely on March 20, 2023. Apart from that, he said, electric vehicles are more efficient and environmentally friendly.

The government has announced an incentive policy for electric motorized vehicles. The nominal amount is IDR 7 million per unit, both for electric motorbike conversions and the purchase of new electric motorbikes. The government will channel this assistance to producers.
