The government presented the economic empowerment project for women in the prioritized municipalities of the country, in which actions will be carried out to increase the participation of women in the productive sector in an equal and equitable manner.
This project is financed by the European Union and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) with a duration of 46 months, through which the economic autonomy of women will be strengthened, in 23 municipalities of the departments: Ahuachapán, Cuscatlán, La Libertad, La Paz, Morazán, Santa Ana, San Miguel, San Vicente, Usulután and San Salvador.
Yanci Salmerón, Executive Director of the Salvadoran Institute for the Development of Women (ISDEMU) reported that this project will involve the coordination of efforts of the different institutions and will have territorial participation with the mayors’ offices.
This will directly benefit 5,600 Salvadoran women and indirectly 19,800 relatives of the women who will participate, giving priority to women from single-parent families, teenage mothers, indigenous women, women with disabilities, women who have suffered violence, and migrants or displaced women.
