Frankfurt am Main. The federal government wants to help energy-intensive companies that have gotten into difficulties as a result of the current crisis with a new special subsidy. This emerges from the draft of an “energy cost containment program” such as the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported on Monday. The program could therefore be adopted on Friday. The support is intended to offset some of the price increases for both natural gas and electricity.

Aid is planned, which could amount to up to 6.25 million euros a month at the highest level, the newspaper reported further from the paper available to it. The benefits should therefore be in the form of a non-repayable subsidy. The program will initially cover the period up to the end of September. A prerequisite is that the management waives the variable part of their remuneration. (AFP/jW)
