Government opens to discuss financing of Universal Guaranteed Pension | National

The Government was open to discussing the financing of the Universal Guaranteed Pension project, after hearing the report of the Autonomous Fiscal Council, which called for new formulas to make it viable.

Next week the discussion on the Universal Guaranteed Pension project will resume, and there is still no consensus on the financing formula for this initiative.

The Autonomous Fiscal Council concluded that new forms of financing should be sought, since the project would NOT be viable as it is.

The Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Delgado, showed a willingness to dialogue, as long as the recommendations that come out from Congress are adjusted to times and regulations, and stressed that this must be approved as soon as possible.

The deputy of the Green Social Regional Federation, Alejandra Sepúlveda, mentioned in our associate CNN Chile that the Minister of Finance, Rodrigo Cerda, must now show a willingness to reach agreements.

Ximena Rincón, president of the Senate, stressed that there is consensus that it is a beneficial project for the country, but that it is not viable at the moment, which is why she called on the Upper House to reach agreements.

The Senator of National Renovation, Rodrigo Galilea, mentioned that first the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies must approve the project to eliminate tax exemptions to later reach agreements. In addition, he stressed that they will consider all opinions.

From tomorrow the discussion will continue in Congress, and the executive hopes that the situation will be resolved this month to put the project into practice as of February.
