Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. – With the application of triple viral vaccines, pneumococcus, human papillomavirus and tetanus toxoid, as well as the delivery of oral serum, antiparasitics and folic acid, the official inauguration of the National Public Health Day was held, which concludes on August 24 of this year.
Presiding over the ceremony, the Secretary of Health of Tamaulipas, Vicente Joel Hernández Navarro, said that the work of the day is focused on promoting health services with actions to promote and prevent diseases in all age groups and the agency under his charge has a goal of activities scheduled during the day to carry out more than 425 thousand actions in the state.
“We are united with a noble and shared purpose, to bring health services to every corner of our Tamaulipas community. This effort reflects the humanistic commitment of our governor Américo Villarreal Anaya and the president of the DIF, Dr. María de Villarreal. Their vision guides us to work from the heart, placing people at the center of all our actions, ensuring that each initiative is imbued with empathy and nobility for their well-being,” Hernández Navarro highlighted during his speech.
He said that under the slogan “Get in control of your health!”, activities will facilitate access to services and programs through intensive and comprehensive actions of promotion, prevention, health education, with special attention to vulnerable groups, with a comprehensive approach, accessible to all and that respond to the needs of each stage of life.
The National Health Day bases its actions on girls and boys from 0 to 9 years old, which includes vaccination, prevention and care of acute respiratory infections, acute diarrheal diseases, provision of life oral serum and administration of vitamin A; as well as promoting loving and sensitive parenting, prevention of child abuse, detection of cancer in childhood, child development, neonatal metabolic screening, neonatal hearing screening, among others, and for this purpose 194,748 actions were scheduled that include doses, detections, care and talks.
In the group of adolescents aged 10 to 19, priority is given to guidance on the prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, as well as sexual and reproductive health actions and contraceptive protection; adolescents are made aware of their life project, receive their doses of vaccines (Hepatitis B, Td, TDPA), nutrition consultations, addiction prevention, mental health and cancer detection in adolescence are given and the goal is 1,741 activities.
In women and men from 20 to 59 years of age, vaccines are applied for their age, detection and control of chronic non-communicable diseases, addictions and mental health problems, mycobacteriosis, HIV-AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and Hepatitis C is carried out. In the female population, detection, treatment and control of breast cancer and cervical cancer, screening for detection and care of gender, family and sexual violence against women, family planning methods are carried out; and in terms of maternal health, screening for blood pressure and capillary glucose is carried out in pregnant women, as well as detection of HIV and syphilis, in addition to promoting prenatal consultations and incorporation into the obstetric support strategy. For this purpose, 15,384 reproductive and maternal health visits were scheduled, and more than 52,000 for male adult health.
In the group of men and women aged 60 and over, a goal of more than 21 thousand actions was set, in which vaccination is essential, detection, treatment and control of cardiometabolic diseases, aging and other communicable diseases is carried out, with priority given to the detection of memory disorders, mental health, sleep hygiene and nutritional guidance is provided.
And for all ages, actions are carried out on oral health, care for zoonoses, vector-borne diseases, mycobacteriosis, health promotion, and disability, of which nearly 140 thousand activities will be carried out.
The event, which took place at the facilities of the Civic, Social and Sports Unit “Adolfo Ruiz Cortines” in this city, was attended by the head of the State Coordination of IMSS-BIENESTAR, Marggid Antonio Rodríguez Avendaño; the head of the Decentralized Administrative Operation Body of IMSS Tamaulipas, Federico Héctor Marín Martínez; the medical subdelegate of ISSSTE, Ernesto Lavín Hernández; the person in charge of the office of the Undersecretary of Public Health, Rembrandt Reyes Nájera; as well as the municipal president, Eduardo Abraham Gattás Báez and the person in charge of the office of Health Jurisdiction No. 1 of Victoria, Zelenney Guadalupe Rodríguez Mendoza.
