Government of State of Mexico Fails to Deliver School Packages: Mexican Secretary of Education Under Scrutiny

EcatepecMex.-For the school year that begins this Monday the government of the State of Mexico will not deliver school packages for basic education students, so the Mexican Secretary of Education You must explain what destination you gave to the resource that was allocated each year for the purchase of supplies, since only in 2002, more than 980.7 million pesos were disbursed, demanded the local deputy of Morena, Faustino de la Cruz.

Last year, the state government acquired more than 2.8 million school packages for preschool students with a unit cost of 295.63 pesos, primary and secondary of the entity at a cost of 351.83 pesos each, according to the legislator.

The state authorities made two contracts, with the company Suministro Lary, domiciled in Mexico City, which promotes school furniture, office furniture, multimedia classrooms, laboratory equipment, audiovisual, articles, didactic and educational materials for the acquisition of supplies.

During the delivery of 200 school packages to children from Ecatepec, Faustino de la Cruz said that the state government had an authorized budget, and if it did not acquire or distribute the educational materials, it must explain where that resource was, which year after year was used for the school supply pack

“We do not want to find out that these resources went to political waste and since today they are no longer going to continue, they are almost declaring economic insolvency,” he denounced.

The Morenista congressman regretted that the state administration had not considered the purchase of school supplies, which supported the families’ economy, when the school year begins before the end of Alfredo del Mazo’s term and they could have carried out the corresponding acquisition processes with anticipation.

“There must be an explanation from the executive of the State of Mexico. Why today that they lose the government, they did not seek to support the families that need it, is it because they no longer represent an electoral clientele? ”, he expressed.

He considered it absurd that the head of the Ministry of Education, Gerardo Monroy, says that it corresponds to the new government, when the school year begins on August 28 before the current government ends, and given the lack of support, parents are forced to make the expense for supplies.
