Government of Morelia and Mayor Donate 150,000 Pesos to Red Cross in National Collection 2023

MORELIA, Mich., October 17, 2023.- From the Government of Morelia, the President, Alfonso Martínez Alcázar and his wife, the Honorary President of the DIF, Paola Delgadillo Hernández donated 150,000 pesos to the Red Cross of the municipality at the start of the National Collection 2023.

In a statement it was reported that this action renews a solidarity pact between the City Council and the Red Cross, an institution that offers its help to anyone who needs support in an emergency. With each financial contribution that the Morelian women and men deposit in these piggy banks, a vote of confidence is given to this voluntary work, said Paola Delgadillo.

He explained that, to support the Red Cross, there are also other ways to contribute to its noble work, either as blood donors or through volunteering, whose objective is to unite a society to save lives.

For his part, the Mayor of Morelia, Alfonso Martínez Alcázar, called on citizens to join and donate to the humanitarian cause of the Red Cross, which today faces a shortage of ambulances and the need for more paramedics. If they have been able to donate so many days, so many years, we citizens must be able to donate one day of our salary, he stressed.

The President of the Board of Directors of the Morelia Red Cross, Raúl Maldonado Maza, established that in this annual collection it is expected to reach the goal of 300 thousand pesos, with the help of everyone, which will help the operation of pre-hospital services and doctors, with which it is expected to exceed the collection of 261 thousand pesos, registered in 2022.

Likewise, he thanked Alfonso Martínez and Paola Delgadillo Hernández for their contribution so that these emergency services continue to function. He explained that the Red Cross has provided 1,600 free emergency services; 57,200 health services and 42,000 consultations, so far in 2023, which is why the motto “One time is not enough #Donate” stood out.

The National Red Cross Collection will close until December 15, he explained.
