After Easter, in addition to the public accounts and political appointments in view of the European vote at the beginning of June, the government majority will also be busy on another front: the round of appointments in investee companies.
Having put aside those from last year (Enel, Eni, Terna), which saw the most important assets of state-majority finance in the front row, there are still important seats to be assigned: among these certainly those for the boards of directors of Cdp, Ferrovie of the State and Rai.
Also of strategic value are the positions in Anas, which recently concluded a program contract with the Ministry of Infrastructure worth 44 billion.
Furthermore, this year the round of appointments will also involve a series of companies both directly controlled by the MEF such as Sogei, but also Cinecittà, GSE and Invimit, and numerous companies controlled indirectly through the parent companies (among the many Open Fiber, among the 5 indirectly participated by Cdp with the bodies expiring): in total, according to a dossier of the Service for Parliamentary Control of the Chamber circulated at the beginning of the year, there are 63 boards, of which 48 are second level.
For Cdp, which will approve the budget project by the administrators next Thursday, the issue also involves the Foundations. The entities are minority shareholders after the MEF and, by statute, appoint the president while the majority of the board of directors and the CEO are appointed by the government. For the presidency, the opinion of the banking institutions seems aimed at confirming Giovanni Gorno Tempini. A replacement in place of the current CEO Dario Scannapieco could instead be more probable even if the balance within the government forces and the desire not to postpone the choices until after the vote could lead to his reconfirmation. As well as for the CEO. of Ferrovie, Luigi Ferraris, for many in view of a confirmation while for others he is seen as leaving in favor of Stefano Donnarumma, one of the most important managers who was excluded from the previous rounds of appointments.
In this case, more than in others, a direction by competence will be indicated by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Matteo Salvini, who will have to choose in agreement with the Mef and obviously with the Prime Minister. For public television, a relay should emerge between the current CEO Roberto Sergio and the general director Giampaolo Rossi. But the conditional is always a must given the attention that has always been given to appointments in the television company and cascading across the various channels and programmes. While for the presidency, Simona Agnes is currently the name in pole position, current advisor to Rai (with Fi share).
