Government Introduces Subsidized Loan System for Wine Businesses to Ease Financial Burden

The Government announces the establishment of a subsidized loan system for wine businesses.

The succession of inflationary, health and climate crises is exacerbating the structural difficulties in certain wine-growing areas, creating a crisis situation for this major sector for the French economy. These tensions are affecting the cash flow of wine companies as many of them have to repay bank loans taken out following the Covid-19 crisis or the war in Ukraine.

To support them in repaying their State-guaranteed loan (PGE), the Government will set up a 2.5% subsidized loan system at the start of 2024 to allow wine growers to spread their obligations over time. banking and thus free up cash. This system, built with the wine sectors, will be supported by the regime de minimis agricole.

A call for applications from banking establishments will be launched for this purpose.

This system complements the massive State support plan announced on February 6, which provides for the implementation of crisis management measures.

Thus, the Government will mobilize €200 million to initiate a crisis distillation campaign and €30 million, committing, depending on needs, up to €38 million, for the implementation of a sanitary uprooting plan. alongside the Bordeaux Interprofessional Wine Council (CIVB) and the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region, mobilizing €19 million and €10 million, respectively.
