Tegucigalpa, Honduras (10/25/2024).- The Government of President Xiomara Castro officially inaugurated the Consulate General of Honduras in Phoenix, Arizona, a significant step to strengthen representation and services for the Honduran community in the region.
This new consulate will allow Honduran citizens to access essential consular services, such as applying for passports, identity documents (DNI), legal assistance and other important procedures.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including the Chancellor of the Republic, Eduardo Enrique Reina; the commissioner of the National Registry of Persons (RNP), Roberto Breve; and the director of the National Migration Institute (INM), Wilson Paz Reyes.
All expressed their commitment to bringing identification services closer to compatriots abroad.
Foreign Minister Reina highlighted: “President Xiomara Castro promised to expand and improve consular attention to our compatriots worldwide. With this inauguration, we demonstrate that with political will and determination we can serve our compatriots with dignity.”
For his part, Commissioner Breve stressed the importance of opening new consulates, stating that the RNP’s goal is to enroll Hondurans so that they can obtain their identification document.
The director of the INM, Wilson Paz Reyes, highlighted the effort being made to serve the large number of Hondurans requesting passports.
He reported that the INM has more than 200 workstations and 19 passport production centers, and announced that by 2025 more equipment will be acquired to improve service capacity, including 115 new stations that will benefit 25 consulates around the world. .
In addition, a robust appointment system linked to the RNP will be implemented to guarantee identity verification and combat irregularities.
Four consular offices
With the opening of the consulate in Phoenix, there are four consular offices inaugurated by the Castro Government so far this year, including Tampa, Denver and Pittsburgh.
These actions are part of the commitment to establish permanent consulates to serve the thousands of Hondurans residing in the United States.
The new Consulate General of Honduras is located at 3724 North 3rd Street, 85012, third level, Phoenix, Arizona, and will be open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
