(AOF) – The government has published a decree relating to contributions due to the victims’ guarantee fund. This decree provides for an increase of 60 cents, from July 1, 2024, in the annual contribution for property insurance contracts (auto, home, professional) to the Guarantee Fund for victims of acts of terrorism and other offenses (FGTI). When eligible, victims of serious offenses can obtain compensation for their losses.
Reparation is provided by the FGTI, which compensates the victim before turning against the author of the offense with a view to obtaining reimbursement. The FGTI is entirely financed by an annual contribution on insurance contracts. This annual contribution currently amounts to €5.90 per insurance contract. This increase in the contribution will increase the compensation capacity of the Victims’ Guarantee Fund.
The Justice programming and orientation law 2023-2027 has in fact strengthened the possibilities of compensation for certain victims among the most vulnerable, such as victims of intra-family violence and minors.
These victims will be able to contact the commissions for compensation of victims of offenses (CIVI) for all facts subsequent to the promulgation of the law on programming and orientation of Justice 2023-2027.
