Government Decides Not to Increase Electricity Tariffs in April 2024: Here’s the List

Jakarta

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has decided not to change electricity tariffs in April 2024, especially for 13 non-subsidized customer groups. This was conveyed by the Director General of Electricity, Jisman Hutajulu, in Jakarta on Thursday (14/3).

Furthermore, Jisman also explained that in accordance with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 8 of 2023, electricity tariff adjustments for non-subsidized customers are carried out every 3 months referring to changes in the realization of macroeconomic parameters, such as exchange rates, Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and Reference Coal Price (HBA).

“Based on these four parameters, electricity tariff adjustments or tariff adjustments for non-subsidized customers should increase compared to the tariffs in the first quarter of 2024. However, to maintain people’s purchasing power, the government has decided that electricity tariffs will remain the same or not increase,” said Jisman.

Apart from the non-subsidized group, electricity rates for 25 groups of subsidized customers also did not increase and subsidies are still provided. Meanwhile, those included in subsidized customers are social customers, poor households, small industries, and customers whose electricity is allocated to micro, small and medium enterprises or MSMEs.
