The Government Council, meeting this Thursday in Rabat, adopted a draft law amending and supplementing the law relating to compensation for accidents at work, presented by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb.
This text is part of the adaptation to the consequences of the publication of a previous decree dated October 2021 relating to the powers of the Minister of Health and Social Protection, which grants the latter authority over the structures responsible for social protection.
Thus, the Directorate for the Social Protection of Workers was transferred to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, indicated the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, during a press briefing after the Council. This text therefore allows the Minister of Health and Social Protection to exercise his powers relating to social protection in the area of work accidents.
The provisions of this draft stipulate that the attributions previously entrusted to the Minister in charge of Employment will be attributed to the governmental authority or authorities, which will be determined by virtue of a decree, while adopting the expression “Competent administration” instead of the expressions “Competent regional or provincial employment directorate”, “Competent services of the regional or provincial employment directorate” and “Provincial director of employment”.
