Government Assistance for Honda EM1 e: Electric Motorbike in Indonesia – Registration and Details

Honda EM 1 e: is a product candidate that will receive assistance to purchase an electric motorbike of IDR 7 million from the government. PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) has carried out the registration process for EM1 e: but it is not yet listed in the Two-Wheeled Electric Motorized Vehicle Purchase Assistance Information System (Sisapira).

“In Sisapira Honda it is not yet (listed), but maybe it is in the process (of registering recipients of assistance of IDR 7 million),” Chairman of the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Association (Aismoli), Budi Setyadi when contacted Monday (11/9/2023).

One of the conditions for government recipients in the subsidy program is that it be produced in Indonesia with a domestic component level (TKDN) of at least 40 percent. Budi said the registration process for the Honda motorbike brand should have been completed to accelerate the adoption of electric motorbikes.

“It should be finished, I’m trying to contact you first. To speed things up,” said Budi.

Ahmad Muhibbuddin, General Manager Corporate Communication of PT AstraHonda Motor (AHM) said that the EM1 e: is still in the process of being registered to meet the criteria for electric motorbikes receiving assistance of IDR 7 million.

“It’s still in process,” he said.

The price of motorbikes, which ranges from IDR 40 million – IDR 45 million, has the potential to decrease again if PT Astra Honda Motor meets the requirements for receiving a subsidy of IDR 7 million from the government. Honda EM1 e: known to be a locally produced product. The plan is that production and deliveries will start at the end of 2023.

Honda EM1 e: length 1,795 mm, width 680 mm, height 1080 mm. Compare this with the Honda Beat, 1,877 mm long, 660 mm wide and 1,074 mm high. Honda EM1 e: has a height from the ground of 135mm.

What attracts attention is the use of a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 26.1 Ah. On paper, this electric motorbike is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 45 km/h. However, it can only cover a maximum distance of 41.1 km.

When charging the battery, consumers can charge it with the Honda Power Pack Charger e: with a charging time of 2.7 hours (160 minutes) for 25%-75% and 6 hours for 0%-100% or consumers can visit Honda Power Pack Exchanger e: to exchange a fully charged battery.

On the braking side, it is also equipped with a 190 mm front disc and a drum brake on the rear side which is connected to the Combi Brake System (CBS) to make braking smoother. Meanwhile, the front tires are sized 90/90 with 12 inch rims and the rear tires are sized 100/90 with 10 inch rims.

Honda EM1 e: which is equipped with an MPP e: battery is marketed at a price of between IDR 40 million – IDR 45 million including battery. Please note that the battery price is in the range of IDR 10 million – IDR 12 million. The electric motorbike will be sold in the Honda motorbike dealer network which has the Honda e: shop logo.
