Jakarta –
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) gave approval for airlines to charge a surcharge of a maximum of 15% of the upper limit tariff (TBA) for jet aircraft, and a maximum of 25% for propeller aircraft. This means that airfare fares can go up.
This figure is higher than the previous policy, where the surcharge allowed was at most 10% for jet aircraft and 20% for propellers.
Then, does the airline directly raise the ticket fare?

President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk Irfan Setiaputra said his party was currently discussing whether to apply the additional 15% fee or not.
“We are still discussing it,” said Irfan to detikcom, via a short message, Sunday (7/8/2022).
In the previous policy where airlines were given permission to apply an additional 10% fee, said Irfan, Garuda implemented it gradually. Currently, he said, Garuda has implemented a 10% surcharge on all routes.
“We are gradually implementing it. In some routes it is only 5%. But now it’s all done,” he explained.
Provisions regarding this new additional fee are regulated in KM 142 of 2022 concerning the Amount of Surcharges Due to Fluctuations in Fuel (Fuel Surcharge) Passenger Tariffs for Economy Class Domestic Scheduled Commercial Air Transport which will be effective starting August 4, 2022.
The application of the imposition of additional fees is optional for airlines or not mandatory. The Ministry of Transportation will evaluate the application of additional fees at least every 3 months.
