The government has formed a’Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team’, centered on the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and has prepared a’Vaccination Implementation Plan’ that specifically sets the targets and methods of vaccination.
Currently, the corona 19 vaccine secured by the government is worth 56 million people. Vaccine purchase contracts have been signed with individual pharmaceutical companies such as Covax Facility, AstraZeneca, Janssen, Pfizer, and Modena, which are international projects for joint vaccine purchase and distribution. In addition, it has almost completed a contract with Nova Bax to bring in an additional 20 million people.
As these vaccines come in sequentially, this vaccination plan is expected to include information on the priority and size of the vaccine to be given first, the timing of vaccination by subject, and the vaccination location. In particular, it is expected that a detailed plan for inoculation of 50,000 people will be released for the initial volume of COVAX, which is introduced in early February.
First of all, medical institution workers and elderly people living in nursing hospitals and facilities are discussed as targets for vaccination. The government also prioritizes vaccinations for the elderly, adults and children with chronic diseases, youth education and childcare facilities workers, corona 19 primary responders, adults aged 50 to 64, police and fire officials and soldiers, correctional facilities and treatment center prisoners and staff. Has been reviewed.
In addition, as the storage temperature and transportation method differ depending on the type of vaccine, the government proceeds with vaccination in a’two-track’ method centered on consigned medical institutions and vaccination centers. About 10,000 consigned medical institutions and 250 vaccination centers nationwide will be designated and operated.
