Their Sunday working allowance will also be increased by 20%. In addition, angina and cystitis can be taken care of directly in pharmacies, without going to the doctor.
Visiting the Rouen University Hospital (Seine-Maritime) on Thursday August 31, the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, announced that nursing aides and nurses would see, from January, their remuneration increased by 25% for night work.. This system replaces the “addition of one euro per hour worked” – increased in 2022 to two euros per hour – which did not take into account “seniority” of the professional.
According to government estimates, this represents, for an average working nurse “ten to twelve nights” per month, a bonus of approximately “230 euros gross monthly” for a beginner, “300 euros in mid-career” and until “495 euros gross at the end of the career”, Matignon told AFP.
For these non-medical personnel, the allowance applied on Sundays and public holidays will be increased by 20%, in the form of “package”or about 10 euros more per day, according to the Ministry of Health.
Revaluation of night work also for doctors
Two other measures are taken for doctors. As promised by the new Minister of Health Aurélien Rousseau, the revaluation of 50% of night guards – transitional measure taken in July 2022 and always renewed since – is “perpetuated”. Extended until the end of December, it will be entered in the PLFSS and this time applied to “all doctors regardless of their status, in hospitals, clinics or private non-profit hospitals”.
With four shifts per month, a mid-career practitioner should thus be increased by approximately “560 euros gross on average” explains Matignon.
For doctors too, the remuneration of public on-call duty will be “aligned” on that of the private sector, which is more favourable, while another project is soon to open, aiming at the fairest sharing of “constant care”.
“Expanding the skills” of pharmacists
The executive is continuing its work already begun to “expand skills” certain health professionals, particularly in the city. Since the beginning of August already, pharmacists or midwives can prescribe and administer certain vaccines, such as the flu or certain reminders of compulsory vaccines.
The Prime Minister authorizes pharmacists to “prescribe antibiotics” for cystitis – urinary tract infections – and angina, “as soon as he has carried out a test to confirm the bacterial origin” of the disease and an interview with the patient. He will thus be able to “directly deliver” the antibiotic, to “promote access” to these routine acts of care.
