“Considering the evolution over time, and taking the risk that the Delta variable means, which is hitting very hard in many parts of the world, and after receiving both national and international recommendations, we have decided to start a reinforcement of vaccination in all those people who have received their two doses of Sinovac vaccine “, he indicated.

This process, as detailed, will start from next Wednesday the 11th with people over 55 years old, who have already received their two Sinovac doses this year, “especially those who received their second dose in March of this year”, and later, he indicated, “we will continue with all the older ones until we complete the entire population.”

Regarding this process, explained the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, to do it in an orderly manner, the calendar will be made by age and by the date of the second dose of vaccine. The booster vaccine that will be given in this case will be that of AstraZeneca.

Simultaneously with this calendar, it was indicated, progress will continue with the vaccination of adolescents between 12 and 17 years old, and as soon as the Public Health Institute (ISP) authorizes it, the vaccination of children between 3 and 11 years will also begin.

As highlighted by the president, currently 12.6 million people have their complete vaccination scheme. “This means that more than 80% of the adult population is protected, which places Chile among the three countries in the world with the highest percentage of its population vaccinated and protected from Covid-19.”
