Government and Senate open dialogue with the Judiciary with a view to the election

Mexico City. The federal government and the Senate opened a space for dialogue and dialogue with the Judiciary, with a view to achieving a negotiated transition for the constitutional modifications that will culminate with the election of judges, magistrates and ministers next year.

Proof of this dialogue was the presence today of the president of the Supreme Court, Norma Piña, in the solemn session that commemorates 200 years of the establishment of the Senate, a ceremony that took place in the old Xicótencatl mansion.

The head of the Court did not want to make any statement, she left through one of the doors of the old house located in the Historic Center, directly to her suburban van, protected by a security cordon, without answering any of the many questions. that was formulated.

It was the president of the Senate, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, who specified that “there is a permanent dialogue between the head of the Secretary of the Interior, Rose Icela Rodríguez and the coordinator of Morena, Adán Augusto, López Hernández” with Minister Piña.

During today’s solemn ceremony, Fernández Noroña spoke with the president of the Supreme Court. “We did it in the best terms, in the search to build an entry into dialogue, communication and, if possible, a transition agreement.”

– And what happened?

-We are moving forward, so much so that he accompanied us in this ceremony. There is a dialogue from the federal government headed by the Secretary of the Interior and my colleague Adán Augusto López Hernández and a server, we are helping on behalf of the Legislative Branch. I simply say that there is communication, that there is dialogue and that there is an agreement to maintain the dialogue and this seems very important to me.

Fernández Noroña clarified: I do not want to generate any expectations that are not met later. The issue is to advance in a transition process for the election of judges, but we will not move one millimeter from the election of judges, magistrates and ministers on the first Sunday of June 2025.” He specified that the Judiciary may or may not assist in this process.

He also reported that next Saturday, October 12, a raffle draw will be held in the Senate to determine which positions will be elected in 2025, given that, according to the Constitution, half of the positions of judges and judges will be in contention. magistrates and the other half in 2027.

To carry out this raffle, the members of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) and the board of directors were included.
