In the future, domestic companies sending earthquake damage donations to Turkey will be able to complete the remittance in one day at the earliest.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the Bank of Korea announced on the 13th that they would simplify the overseas remittance process related to humanitarian aid to Turkiye. First of all, when the headquarters of a domestic company supports donations through a local corporation, the advance notification procedure is processed as quickly as possible. Normally, it takes 3 to 5 days to verify documents at the Bank of Korea and foreign exchange banks when sending overseas remittances for gifts, such as donations.

If the head office in Korea directly pays donations to the Turkiye government or international organizations, it does not need to go through a separate report. The government and the Bank of Korea decided to expedite the relevant procedures through administrative guidance in this case as well. The government and the Bank of Korea said, “Through authoritative interpretation and administrative guidance, prior notification is unnecessary, but we plan to support the quick resolution of overseas remittance procedures related to humanitarian aid to Turkiye, which are being delayed for reasons such as document verification by front-line banks.”
